SolarEdge separates the functions of conventional inverters: DC/AC conversion is still done in the inverter. However, MPP tracking is handled by module-level power optimizers. This allows each module to be operated, monitored and shut down at its MPP. Even in an emergency, the voltage is reduced to a safe 1 volt. The system allows small and large installations with different string lengths, modules, orientations and inclinations. The P300-505 power optimizers are connected to one module each, while the P 650-950 power optimizers are connected to two modules each – reducing costs for large-scale systems.
